It all went fine

My dance workshop was great. The instructor had only been available for one specific day; I found an acceptable space at short notice. I learned some new dances. I'm going to be teaching 15th dances myself later and it helped to get a chance to watch her step techniques and movement.

What kind of dance do you do?

As I look at the post above, I realize I left out a word. They are 15th _Century_ dances. I do historic (European Renaissance) dance, from between about 1450 to 1650. I got into it via the Society for Creative Anachronism as a university student.

Ooh, that's very cool :) Do you make the costumes as well?

Nope! I have friends who sew, and of course there are people who make and sell garb. Someday I will take the time to learn how to upload images here, and I'll post the photo of my fancy court dress. It's based on the one in this portrait

Wow! Yes, I would love to see it. I've worn 18th Century clothes and was very impressed with both how unexpectedly easy they were to wear, and the real feeling of presence that you get while wearing them. Is it the same for Tudor?

Not in this case. I was looking for a one-time space in Calgary, not my home city of Edmonton. I was travelling to an SCA event for the weekend and my Laurel who lives in Seattle came up for the same event. We don't often have the chance to meet up in person. I wanted to get some dancing time with her while I had the chance. It would have been less of a faff to organize if I'd had more lead time.
