If I send a "save the date" message and say I am finalizing the details, more info later, and I don't include the venue, why would you write to ask me what the venue is? Can you not figure out that I don't have that info yet?

Maybe they are wondering if it is someplace accessible to them (city, near public transit)?

That would be my thought too. They may be thinking there's no point in saving the date if the event is being held somewhere they can't get to.

Oh, it's a totally understandable question. I too would like to know the venue! But I literally cannot give them an answer yet because I don't have the space finalized. I did not realize that I had to spell that out for them.

I could see maybe asking if that was one of the things that had been decided on yet, since some people wait until they have every detail nailed down.

Unfortunately the event is so close - this coming Sunday - that I decided I'd better immediately give people a heads-up on Tuesday that it would be happening. I'm still waiting to hear back from the venue that they got my deposit :(

If I hadn't had two weeks removed from my life by the flu I would have had all the details ready to publicize earlier this month.

Gosh, I guess I'm feeling a bit defensive about all this. I am trying so hard to set this up on very short notice and the perfectly valid questions feel like criticism.

Not necessarily. Venue is usually the first thing that gets decided - but it does depend on the kind of event...
